Hi friend! My name is Merrill 

At Resolve Pilates, I am dedicated to providing a transformative experience through the practice of Pilates. The idea for Resolve was born from a deep love for movement, wellness and empowering others. My first experience with Pilates was in a college course over 20 (eek) years ago, and ever since practicing Pilates has been a part of my life. I have successfully completed my coursework, observation hours, and self-practice hours for both my Reformer and Mat Pilates certifications. The final step in my comprehensive certification process is to complete three additional apparatus classes and to test out. While we don’t currently have Cadillac, Chair, or Barrel equipment in the studio, I hope to incorporate it by the middle of 2026 once my certification is fully completed. I’m excited to continue expanding my expertise and look forward to bringing even more offerings to the studio in the future! I'm dedicated to continuing my education to be able to better serve you all. My goal is to create a welcoming space for individuals of all skill levels. The studio combines expert instruction with a supportive community, ensuring each enhances your physical and mental well-being. Why Pilates?

The 9 Principles of Pilates
​
  1. Breathing – "Breathing is the first act of life, and the last. Our very life depends on it." -Joseph Pilates.  Deep, controlled breathing supports movement, increases oxygen flow, and enhances relaxation and focus.

  2. Concentration – Being fully present and focused on each movement ensures proper technique and maximum benefit.

  3. Control – Every exercise is performed with precision, including proper form, alignment and effort during the entire exercise, reducing the risk of injury and improving effectiveness.

  4. Centering – The core, or “powerhouse” (abdominals, lower back, and pelvis), is the foundation of all movements, promoting stability and strength.

  5. Precision – Proper alignment and form help develop balanced muscles and prevent unnecessary strain. It is the culmination of concentration, control, centering and practice.

  6. Flow/Rhythm – Movements are smooth, functional and continuous, improving coordination, efficiency, and grace.

  7. Balance – Pilates promotes muscular balance by working both sides of the body equally, improving posture and movement efficiency.

  8. Whole Body Movement – Exercises are designed to integrate whole body movement, helping the body move with ease in daily life.

  9. Recovery – Refers to the body's ability to restore, repair, and rejuvenate after exercise. It emphasizes the importance of rest, proper breathing, and mindful movement to prevent overexertion and enhance muscle recovery.

A Private or One-on-One Pilates Session offers personalized, one-on-one instruction tailored to your specific needs and goals. During the session, I will guide you through exercises using both Mat and Reformer equipment, focusing on areas such as core strength, flexibility, alignment, posture and balance.

With individual attention, you’ll receive customized modifications and adjustments, ensuring the exercises are suitable for your fitness level, body type, and any injuries or limitations. This private setting allows for a deeper connection with the movements, faster progression, and a more focused, effective Pilates experience. Whether you're new to Pilates or want to fine-tune your practice, a private session offers a unique opportunity for personalized growth.
